The Lakers began their 2007 intercollegiate competition on Sept 15th with a third place finish at the Alfred State Invitational. Chris Driscoll led the the effort with a 14th place finish. He was followed by Clark Schroeder, Alex White, Tyler LaTray, and Andrew Katz.
On September 22nd, the FLCC harriers traveled to Houghton where they competed against several quality 4-year teams. Jimmy Merritt led the Lakers, covering the 5 mile course in 30:07. Chris Driscoll, Pat Coleman, Mike Gammariello, and Tyler LaTray rounded out the scoring. Also competing were Alex White, Clark Schroeder, Euphrates Moore, Matt Thiel, and Andrew Katz.
On September 28th, the Lakers were at home for the Bruce Bridgman Invitational. The men were again led by Jim Merritt who finished in 31:13. He was followed closely by Chris Driscoll and Pat Coleman. Mike Gammariello and Clark Schroeder rounded out the scoring. Tyler LaTray, Alex White, Euphrates Moore, Andrew Katz and Chris Woodard also competed.
FLCC has hosted the NJCAA National Championships three times and the Region III Championships nine times. The men’s and women’s courses are regarded as among the best in the nation.

10/13/07 - Several members of the FLCC men's cross country team posted individual best times at the University of Rochester Invitational at Genesee Valley Park. Jimmy Merritt, Chris Driscoll, and Pat Coleman had personal best times, covering the 8k course in 29:47, 29:53, and 30:47 respectively. The lead trio was followed by Matt Thiel, Tyler LaTray, Clark Schroeder, Alex White, and Chris Woodard. Thiel, Schroeder and Woodard had personal best times while LaTray had a season's best time. The men are improving as a result of their work ethic and dedication and are aiming for a top 10 finish at the National Meet.
The men next compete at the Region 3 Championships at SUNY Delhi, Oct 27th

Assistant Coach: Mike Prockton
Head Coach Rob Wink, Assistant Professor of Environmental Conservation and Horticulture, was awarded the 2005 NJCAA Region 3 Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year. Coach Wink is a lifelong competitive runner and has been competitive swimmer and triathlete for the past decade. He also directs and co-directs several local road races. Wink received both his Bachelor and Doctoral degrees from SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse.
Assistant Coach Mike Prockton, Professor of Business, is also a lifelong runner and has coached at FLCC for the past decade. During his time as Head Coach he received the Mid-State Conference Coach of the Year Award. |
