Gene WildGene Wild, Head Coach

A new chapter of Finger Lakes Community College Men’s Soccer was opened in the fall of 2006 when Gene Wild was named the new head coach.  With a wide variety of experience Coach Wild has constructed a new look to the Lakers program. Over Wild’s tenure at FLCC he has turned the program into a consistent competitor within the Mid-State Athletic Conference and all of the NJCAA Region-III. Coach Wild has earned his Class “C” coaching certifications through the NSCAA.

The MSAC has proven to be one of the most competitive conferences in the NJCAA. At Finger Lakes Coach Wild has guided many players to MSAC All-Conference, NJCAA All-Region III, NJCAA Academic All-American, and NJCAA All-American accolades.

Jason Wild enters his first year in the Lakers coaching staff as an assistant coach.  The former FLCC All-Conference and All-Region selection received an athletic and academic scholarship to play soccer at Roberts Wesleyan College in the NAIA.  While at RWC, Wild anchored the defense in the fall of 2007 and 2008 leading the team to the National Christian College Athletic Association national finals in ’08.  Wild was named to the All-Tournament best XI team and was voted an NCCAA All-American.  Coach Wild graduated from Canandaigua Academy in 2005.  He is currently working towards his NSCAA class “E” coaching license.

 

Jim Hewlett, Assistant Coach

Coach Hewlett has been a familiar face in the Rochester area soccer scene for many years.  He heads a girls section of the regional ODP and has been a part of the FLCC Men’s Soccer program or many years. Hewlett is currently the Biology department head at Finger Lakes and teaches numerous classes.  Coach Hewlett is a certified NSCAA coach with years of experience.
