Women's team is now ranked #9 in the country for Division III
First Half Summary
The Women's Basketball team opened the season with a tough loss to Mohawk Valley the #4 ranked team in the country and last years runner up for the national championship.The team ended the first half of the season with a tough loss to an undefeated University of Rochester JV team. In between the Lady Lakers won nine straight games and are ranked # 9 in the country.
Included in these nine wins were five wins against Division II (scholarship) teams.
Leading the team in most categories was Pre-season First Team All-American Brittany Williams(Wilson-Magnet) Brittany a Sophomore came into this season as Mid-State Player of the Year as well as Region III Player of the Year and New York State Junior College Player of the Year.
This year Brittany is leading the nation in rebounding and is one of the top scorers in the nation. Brittany also leads the team in assists and blocked shots. Coach Barrett thinks that Brittany still has not reached her full potential and is looking for a great second half from Brittany.
Three Freshman guards have also had an outstanding first half and will only get better as the season goes on. Ashlee Langley(South Seneca), Elly Disbrow(Penn Yan) and Jordyn Eckman(Frontier) have all moved into the starting line up and have contributed greatly to the success of the team.
Two Sophomores, Jackie Vincent(Romulus) and Bobbi Dixon(Canandaigua) who played great last year have been slowed by injuries and lack of conditioning, should again be major forces second semester as soon as they are healthy and in shape.
The team will come back from break on January 2nd and open up their league schedule against Onondaga CC on January 8.

Brittany Williams Pre-season First Team All-American
Brittany Williams selected Region III Player of the Week Nov.17
Women's team is now ranked #10 in the country for Division III
Brittany Williams was selected to the Second Team All-American and Tiffany Sullivan was on the Honorable Mention team. Brittany was also selected as the New York State Junior College Player of the Year by the Basketball Coaches Association of New York(BCANY).
LADY LAKERS FINISH SEASON 25-6
The Finger Lakes Lady Lakers finished a very successful season losing in the Semi-finals of the Region III D III Championship to the eventual champion Mohawk C.C.The team reached the semi-finals by defeating Onondaga C.C. for the fourth time this season by a score of 68-52. Leading the team to victory was Freshman Brittany Williams from Wilson Magnet who scored 28 points and pulled down 25 rebounds.
Brittany led the team in scoring and rebounding for the entire season.She was selected Player of the Year in the Mid-State Athletic Conference as well as Player of the Year in Region III Division III. She was also selected to the All-Tournament Team in the Regional Tournament.
Also leading the Lady Lakers this year was pre-season First Team All-American Tiffany Sullivan from Nazareth Academy. Tiffany led the team in assists and steals and made the All-Conference and All-Region First Teams. Brittany and Tiffany received the two highest vote counts in the region. This is the first time that two Finger Lakes players ranked # 1 and # 2 in the region. Both women will now be nominated for All-American. Brittany has also been nominated for WHAM 1180 College Sportswoman of the Year.
Besides Tiffany, other Sophomores who contributed to the success of the team were: Julie Frohm from Pittsford Mendon. Julie, a two year starter will continue her basketball career at SUNY Cortland. Julie Stephens from Wayland- Cohocton, an outstanding shooter: Maryama McCarty from West Valley, an outstanding rebounder who last year had 24 rebounds in one game. Charity Hurdle from Brentwood a great team player who missed several games due to injury and illness.
Rounding out the team were Freshman Jackie Vincent from Romulus, Bobbi Dixon(Canandaigua) Colleen Smith(Mynderse) Cinee Fogle(East High) and Luvenia Everett(Franklin) and Marisa Campbell(Rush-Henrietta)
Although the team is losing several fine players, there are plenty of good players returning and with a good recruiting class coming in the Lady Lakers should be able to continue their winning ways.
