LADY LAKERS FINISH SEASON 25-6

The Finger Lakes Lady Lakers finished a very successful season losing in the Semi-finals of the Region III D III Championship to the eventual champion Mohawk C.C.The team reached the semi-finals by defeating Onondaga C.C. for the fourth time this season by a score of 68-52. Leading the team to victory was Freshman Brittany Williams from Wilson Magnet who scored 28 points and pulled down 25 rebounds.

Brittany led the team in scoring and rebounding for the entire season. She was selected Player of the Year in the Mid-State Athletic Conference as well as Player of the Year in Region III Division III. She was also selected to the All-Tournament Team in the Regional Tournament.

Also leading the Lady Lakers this year was pre-season First Team All-American Tiffany Sullivan from Nazareth Academy. Tiffany led the team in assists and steals and made the All-Conference and All-Region First Teams. Brittany and Tiffany received the two highest vote counts in the region. This is the first time that two Finger Lakes players ranked # 1 and # 2 in the region. Both women will now be nominated for All-American.Brittany has also been nominated for WHAM 1180 College Sportswoman of the Year.

Besides Tiffany, other Sophomores who contributed to the success of the team were: Julie Frohm from Pittsford Mendon. Julie, a two year starter will continue her basketball career at SUNY Cortland. Julie Stephens from Wayland- Cohocton, an outstanding shooter: Maryama McCarty from West Valley, an outstanding rebounder who last year had 24 rebounds in one game. Charity Hurdle from Brentwood a great team player who missed several games due to injury and illness.

Rounding out the team were Freshman Jackie Vincent from Romulus, Bobbi Dixon(Canandaigua) Colleen Smith(Mynderse) Cinee Fogle(East High) and Luvenia Everett(Franklin) and Marisa Campbell(Rush-Henrietta)

Although the team is losing several fine players, there are plenty of good players returning and with a good recruiting class coming in the Lady Lakers should be able to continue their winning ways.
