2009 NJCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP – The Women’s Team Finished 8th out of 20 teams . The Lakers were led by two sophomores: Headyana Piearu and Emily Enright. Piearu earned All-American honors for her 2nd Place in the 100M dash. She also set a school record with a personal best time of 12.68. In the 200M dash she finished 6th and set a school record in the semi finals (26.68). Enright, a 2008 Track and Field and 2008 Cross Country All-American, earned All-American Honors for her 2nd place finish in the 5000M which she completed in a season’s best time. She also finished 4th in the 1500M. Sophomore and 2008 NJCAA Soccer All-American, Renee Smith finished 4th in the 100M hurdles with a school record setting performance and also finished in 9th in the long jump. Freshman Brooke Everdyke finished 8th in the 400M and in the process set a school record with a personal best time 1:01.85. She also competed in the 800M. Freshman Shannon O’Brien finished 10th in the 800M with a personal best time. Freshman Kendra Trammell finished 9th in the discus throw. The women’s 4 X100 meter team (O’Brien, Smith, Everdyke, Piearu) finished 4th and broke the school record with speed and technical precision. The women’s 4 X800 meter team (Enright , O’Brien, Johnston, Everdyke) finished 4th.
In all, the women broke 6 school records during the 2009 Track and Field season.
